3 People Claimed This Deal!

A long time Southwest Michigan native is soon releasing his first gospel CD and is coming home to do it.  Marlon “Milo” Davis , 57, resided in St. Joseph Michigan for over 35 years before retiring in 2012 and re-locating to Nashville, Tennessee to do what he loves best, make music.

Marlon comes from a family thick with musical talent.  He grew up in the home of a Pentecostal Preacher CJ Davis and enjoyed singing and playing instruments with his two sisters and three brothers.   The Davis household was always filled with music.   He and his family moved to northern Michigan when he was just six years old, and landed in Escanaba.

It was in 1976 when he married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Sundman, that they relocated and made Southwest Michigan home.  His two daughters and their families still reside here in St. Joseph.  Following the passing of Peggy, Marlon retired and moved to Nashville to have fun with his favorite hobby creating and writing music.

Marlon’ s CD, “Songs of Yesteryear”, is reminiscent of old hymnals & old country music and  the type of music you would hear on the stage of the Little country Churches & Ryman Auditorium.  On it you will hear gospel classics, such as Amazing Grace, Just a Closer Walk and The Garden.  Besides  the strong  musical background  of singing and piano playing from within his own  family, Marlon has the strong influence of  famous names like Jerry Lee Lewis,  Jimmy Swaggart, Mickey Gilley, Floyd Cramer,  Meryl Haggard , Kenny Hinson,Vince Gill  and Alan Jackson just to name a few.

While wanting to share his new CD release here at home, Marlon will be doing so to also help out a local church financially.  In need of repairs, Marlon will release his CD at the Franklin Church on Brush Lake Road in Dowagiac  A photo of the church adorns the cover of his CD “Songs of Yesteryear”.  A portion of the proceeds will go to the church for those repairs.  The Franklin Church seats about 100 people and Marlon will be hosting a concert there on May 17, 2014 with two shows, one at 2:00 PM and one at 5:00 PM.  For ticket sales information visit  Cost of the tickets will be $10 advance and $15 at the door and the Cost of the CD will be $12

The Location is on Brush Lake Road intersecting with Frost St in Berrien Center Michigan, sits a Little Country Church to the best anyone knowledge the Franklin Community Church was built somewhere about 1854.  As with a lot of the old Historical churches this it the typical little country church with the cementery right next to the church.

Approximately in the year of 2007 with nobody using the church and  it and in need of lots of repair Connie Froelich and Family begin to check around and decided to do something. As they begin to fix up as they could and begin to have 1 service a year at christmas time. This is when Marlon Davis and Family became involved we were asked if we could come and sing a Christmas song or two. The First year it was just Marlon and Peggy Davis what a fun time it was. We was invited back I believe for 4 years years in a row from 2008-2011 In October 2012 Peggy left this world and entered in to her new place. Marlon received a call from Connie asking him if maybe him and daughters would be interested in continuing the tradition. Marlon considered although a tough decision he decided that yes they would. Little did he know that they would dedicate the whole service to Peggy that year  Wow was a flood of emotions. Thus when deciding to release this Songs of Yesteryears there was only one place Marlon could think of and none other than FRANKLIN CHURCH ....something about being in that little church and reliving the songs of yesteryears that all of our grandparents use to sing from Amazing Grace, Where Could I go , Just a Closer Walk , I'll Fly Away, I come to the garden and the list goes on and on ... Marlon hopes you will join him in the celebration of the CD Party

The Church is in need of new Siding so 1/2 of all the proceed will be going for that. There is only 100 tickets available for each show tickets are $10 advance and $15 at door if available .. The CD will be on sale at the shows for $12
